Australian Genome Research Facility Ltd (AGRF)


The Australian Genome Research Facility Ltd (AGRF) is a not for profit organization. It is Australia’s largest genomic service provider to academia and industry, currently serving over 3,000 clients nationally. Each AGRF node provides a gateway to the AGRF network of state-of-the-art facilities, technology and expertise.

AGRF is accredited by NATA to the ISO/IEC17025:2005 Quality Standard and aims to continually look at the development and introduction of new services as technology and demand evolves. AGRF receives Federal Government funding support through the NCRIS program and Bioplatforms Australia.

Name Description
DNA Sequencing AGRF provides a wide range of DNA sequencing options, including shotgun and amplicon based library preparation, Next Generation and Sanger sequencing. Local services are based on illumina MiSeq and NextSeq500 systems, and AB3730/3730xl capillary analysers. Larger projects are transferred to our Melbourne or Brisbane nodes, with Pyrosequencing conducted at our Perth facility.
Genomic DNA extraction A range of options exist for generation of genomic DNA from fresh or frozen specimens.
Genotyping A comprehensive range of genotyping options and platforms are available. These include illumina iScan, Sequenom, Pyromark and Applied Biosystems platforms.
Bioinformatics AGRF has a team of Bioinformaticians available to assist in project design and data handling.
